Human Resources Management and Ethics
INTRODUCTION
The Fundamental Principle
As HR professionals, they have a responsibility to give
value to the organizations they work with and contribute to organizational
ethical success. They have to take full
responsibility for their individual judgments and actions as professionals.
they also should act as proponents for the profession by
participating in initiatives that increase its legitimacy and worth.
Purpose
- To increase the HR profession's esteem, credibility, and strategic value within the enterprises, the business sector, and the communities at the organization.
- To help the organizations we work with achieve their goals and objectives.
- To provide current and prospective practitioners, the organizations we serve, and the general public with information and education on the principles and practices that benefit the profession.
- To have a positive impact on workplace and recruiting procedures.
- To promote professional responsibility and decision-making.
- To instill a sense of societal duty.
What is the HR code of ethics?
Respect each person's individuality and fundamental worth. To establish a trusting work environment devoid of harassment, intimidation, and unlawful discrimination, treat people with dignity, respect, and compassion. Ascertain that everyone gets the opportunity to improve their skills and acquire new abilities.
Why is HR ethical?
Employers can gain long-term employee trust and loyalty by treating employees ethically, which has a variety of advantages. Employees that are loyal to their employers receive more experience working with them, helping them to master production methods and gain a better understanding of the company's inner workings(Wiley, 2000).
Codes of ethics and Professional ethics
Professional ethics are the principles that govern a person's or group's behavior in a business setting. Professional ethics, like values, provide guidelines for how a person should interact with other individuals and organizations in such a setting(Bhasin, 2020).
There are, however, certain universal ethical standards that apply to all professions, such as:
Honesty, Accountability is based on trustworthiness, loyalty, respect for others, conformity to the law, doing good and avoiding damage to others.
The following are some of recommendations to be practiced,
- A balanced workload with control over the tasks to be completed is required.
- To reduce workplace stress and protect employee health and safety, employers should provide appropriate health and wellness programs.
- Bullying and harassment should not be tolerated in the workplace.
- In order to eliminate stress in the workplace, stress management training and counseling services should be implemented.
- Employees should communicate with one another in order to discuss difficulties and alleviate stress.
- Employees should receive regular feedback and be given the flexibility to express their opinions.
- The organizational culture should promote flexibility, security, autonomy, participation, and involvement.
CONCLUTION
Ethics, in the end, play a critical part in HRM. Management should think about ethical problems with employee health and safety. In the workplace, there has been a significant shift and expansion. Workplace changes are causing employees to become ill as a result of increased work pressure, a less secure employment, and increased duties. Another major source of stress is a lack of communication, an increase in workload, a lack of recognition, and a lack of autonomy. Companies are dealing with these sources of stress in a responsible manner, but there is still room for improvement.Employers should provide appropriate health and wellness programs to minimize stress in the workplace and to maintain employee health and safety, as well as a positive work environment.
